Columbia 29 was the flag ship of Columbia Yachts which evolved from Glas Laminates, a producer of camp tops, shower stalls and portable chemical toilets.  Columbia 29, a design by Sparkman & Stephens was first built in 1961.    Though small, it offers comfort and ease of sail.   With its sleek lines and good sailing performance, it became a popular racer.  Columbia Yachts went on to produce bigger sailboats including the Columbia 50, which at its time was the world's largest fiberglass production sailboat.  By the late 1960's Columbia Yachts became the world's largest fiberglass production boat company with production facilities throughout the world.
