“Old world” elegance is the best way to describe the  Hinckley DS42. This boat is not for everybody as it is only for those who want the very best.

Hinckley is to the yachting industry as Rolls Royce is to the automobile industry and Louis Vitton is to the luggage industry.   Elegance is immediately apparent in her majestic 13 feet of overhangs and carbon fiber spars meticulously faux painted to a convincing wood look finish. The cockpit, while carrying through the traditional feel, accommodates 6-8 passengers and provides a comfortable helm seat for single-handed sailing.

While the Hinckley DS42 is of the classic "old world" styling, everything in her construction is of the new technology. The Hinckley DS42 features the same DualGuard® composite construction technique used in construction of the Sou’wester® yacht line and the Talaria® power line. This space-age process bonds outer layers of Kevlar® to an inner skin of carbon fiber, using the patented SCRIMP® vacuum infusion process. Both the deck and hull are backed by Hinckley's Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Noise reduction in the DS42 has evolved into the 21st century with use of the battery-powered Solomon Technologies ST37 electric motor. This auxiliary option provides an incredibly quiet ride while the sailboat is under power. A hydraulically operated keel allows for a shallow 4 ft draft when retracted and a commanding 7’ft draft when lowered.  Navigating in varying water depths will be a breeze. A 10’6” beam and high-tech 3DL molded sails from North Sail combine to make the yacht an efficient and swift daysailer.

The interior of the DS42 is built with uncompromising Hinckley quality, with fit and finish compared to legendary coach-built automobiles. The yacht has a V-berth in the bow, settee both port and starboard, gimbaled stove and head. Luxurious solid teak and tulipwood soles are a Hinckley tradition and suit the Hinckley DS42 admirably.

Jimmy Buffet owns a Hinckley DS42 named Chill.

A little of Jimmy Buffet's music, a picnic basket and some good friends, and you can have a quiet time on this elegant daysailer.

A gentle daysailer like the whisper of an ocean breeze gliding on the water.
