The Schooner Tina Christine was originally designed for John Antle III (then CE) of Fraser River Log Sorting Co.) for his wife Bettina Christine.  The design process begun in November 1980 and construction took over two years.  Built in Richmond, the schooner was launched in June of 1983.

The yacht was a dreamboat for Mr. Antle, With "cost no object" total constructions cost over a million dollars.  Of very fine quality construction, it was equipped with top of the line hardware.  Twin diesel engines, diesel generator, microwave, washer/dryer, full size bathtub, Hood stowaway mast, Hood furling gear, radar, Loran C, VHF and complete set of sailing instruments.

Much thought went into the sailplan, with all lines leading to the cockpit making the yacht easy to sail for a couple.  John Antle, the original owner was very delighted with the performance of Tina Christine which exceeded his expectations on all points of sail.

John Antle reported that Tina Christine is "a treasure to sail, nimble, quick and tracks well.  Her response in light air is amazing.  Helm is extremely light and responsive - slight lee helm in winds up to 8 knots, neutral to 11 knots and then weather helm beyond that. ......Crossing the Georgia Straits in 30 knots winds and 7 foot swells, she was dry, comfortable and averaged 7 knots uunder reefed jib and mainsail alone.  While other boats turned back, Tina Chrisitne continued on course. "

Great Bear Charters - The Schooner Tina Christine has since been renamed Singawing by its new owners Matthew Mortensen and Andrea Knutson.  The schooner is niow operating as a charter vessel under the name Great Bear Charters.  She can be seen cruising the Alaska waters, San Juan Islands and the West coast of Vancouver Island.
