Cowichan Bay, Duncan
Located on the south side of Vancouver Island, the Cowichan region is the warmest, year round spot in Vancouver Island, in fact, of Canada.

Total population of the Cowichan Region is 79,000 and is located in the south-central part of Vancouver Island. The most populated part of our 373,000-hectare region is on the eastern side. It includes the communities of North Cowichan, Duncan, Chemainus, Ladysmith, the Town of Lake Cowichan, Cobble Hill, Cowichan Bay, Youbou, Shawnigan Lake, Mill Bay and more. And each of these communities, separated by green pastures, vineyards and forests, offers a lifestyle that's envied by the rest of North America.

Cowichan Bay, Duncan
Summer time is so beautiful in British Columbia, such that BC residents don't have to go far for their summer vacations.
For those who are cruising Vancouver Island, Cowichan Bay in Duncan is  definitely worth a stopover.  Sandwiched between the big ports of Nanaimo and Victoria, Cowichan Bay can easily be bypassed.  It is small and quiet, but utterly quaint and charming.  A real maritime port, it has a maritime museuum built on stilts.  Visitors will find the place teeming with arts.  Old bicylces were turned to art and hung as store signs.  Old boats were restored and displayed in the local maritime museum.   An old canoe was made into a flower planter.  A real maritime town, boats are expressed in practical usable art forms.   A wicker basket appears in the local bakery in the shape of a dinghy.   A bookcase designed in the shape of dinghy is featured at the local store.  For those travelling by car, there are plenty of delightful little bed and breakfast places.
