Stuart Island and Big Bay has been a popular destination for decades amongst the yachting community, fisherman, wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts. The area experiences some of the most phenomenal natural features which includes tremendous tidal waters, excellent sport fishing and quick access to some of B.C.'s most spectacular inlets as well as the Discovery Islands and everything they have to offer.

Across from Big Bay is Sonora Lodge, which is a popular fishing resort with fine dining and SPA treatments.   There are many high end fishing lodges catering to sportsfishermen.  There is a grocery store in Stuart Island where you can buy charts, dried goods, ice cream, sweaters and souvenirs.  The manager told us that there are 19 residents in the island.  The store is also the post office.
