Brief
Biography:
Ted Brewer was born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1933. In 1957, he
was a lieutenant in the Canadian army when he resigned to return to his
first love, boating. He worked as a yacht broker with George
Cuthbertson, who later founded C&C yachts, while at the same time,
worked on the Westlawn School of Yacht Design course. In 1960, he
moved to Connecticut and worked with Bill Luders Jr. as an assistant
designer. During this time, he worked on all types of boats
including sail, power, ocean going yachts and racing yachts.
In 1967, he started his own design firm. In partnership with Bob
Wallstrom, he produced over 100 customs and production designs.
Accomplishments:
Altogether, Ted Brewer has completed over 270 designs including
customs and production boats. He is also an author of four books,
one of which is "Understanding Boat Design" which has been popular for
the last 30 years. He has cruised extensively in the waters of
Hawaii, Mediterranean, Caribbean and the Great Lakes.
