Today the weather has improved, the sun is out and the wind, although still 20 knots or so is now dead astern. We passed San Francisco this morning, to far out to see anything.
The ride is very smooth now, whereas the first night out rounding Cape Flattery was lumpy and since my cabin is right in the bow, I felt the ship lift up an slam down with a thump quite a few times.
Saw a whale blow in the distance today, and several other ships, all freighters. We dock in Long Beach tomorrow morning by the Queen Mary and have a day in Port.
Although my Mother and Aunt Mary are on board, I don’t see that much of them. We plan to meet for dinner tonight.
The exciting bits start in about a week when we get to Nuku Hiva. Right now I’m spending most of the time in my cabin writing software. I do take frequent breaks for a circuit round the deck and a snack.
